Nigel stared life in mixed practice in Horsham and then moved into equine practice, initially as an assistant and then as a partner in Newbury. This was followed by a season in Scone, Australia, as a resident stud vet with Swettenham Stud.
An equine locum surgeon post followed in Onderstepoort, one of the two South African veterinary schools and this was superseded by a residency at the Bristol Vet School, which translated into a becoming a member of the equine surgical staff three years later. After eight years there, he moved to Salisbury as an equine surgeon and is now delighted to have joined the team at Sussex Equine Hospital. Nigel considers himself lucky enough to have worked at Badminton Horse Trials for over 20 years and even luckier to be sent to Mauritius on one occasion to operate on a horse’s eye.
